The American cockroach is the largest cockroach found in our area. It will be nearly two inches long by the time it is full grown. If you notice cockroaches in commercial buildings, this is usually the one that you will see. It has a dark reddish, brown body and have a yellowish figure 8 pattern on their bodies. American cockroaches are filthy insects that can pose a severe health threat. Cockroaches have been reported to spread over 30 kinds of bacteria, including E. coli and Salmonella, as well as six kinds of parasitic worms and a half a dozen other kinds of human pathogens. They pick up germs on the spines of their legs and body as they crawl through sewage and decaying matter, and then transfer germs onto food or food preparation surfaces in your home or business. The urine and fecal droppings as well as saliva from American cockroaches contains allergen proteins that often result in asthma attacks and allergic reactions.
Get Rid of German German Cockroach Infestations
This is the smallest cockroach that is found in the Vegas area. The German cockroach is usually light brown to tan in color and about one inch long. They usually have two dark brown stripes down their backs as well. German cockroaches can carry harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli that may cause food poisoning and dysentery. Cockroach fecal waste, saliva and cast skins can also cause allergic reactions and trigger asthma attacks.
Oriental Cockroaches
Cockroach infestations in your plumbing system are usually Oriental cockroaches. They are dark brown to black and have shiny bodies. If you have leaking pipes, they are far more likely to infest the area in search of standing water. Oriental cockroaches are one of the more dangerous cockroaches in terms of bacteria and pathogens due in part to their strong drive toward water which often leads them to sewers and other bacteria-ridden water as well as their fondness for eating garbage and rotting food. These cockroaches can transfer dangerous bacteria and viruses such as e.coli, dysentery, salmonella and food poisoning from their legs to food and cooking areas. Oriental cockroach allergens can also cause allergy reactions and asthma.
