How to Prevent American Cockroaches
It is easy to say that it is essential to control American cockroaches. You will first want to prevent an infestation. In so doing, you will need to prevent sheltering, feeding or providing water to these pests. Starting with the outside, make sure that garbage sites are kept clean and that pests cannot access the garbage. Cockroaches can drink from tiny droplets which make water harder to restrict. However, do your best to avoid constant dripping pipes, or puddling sprinklers. Seal the home or building. Cockroaches will attempt to enter the home through doors, windows, vents and in the chimney. Seal and repair any potential access point outside the home. Avoid leaving the light on outside or switch to a yellow tint bulb to prevent drawing in American cockroaches. Inside the home cover your drains with drain protectors. Not only do these drain covers help prevent clogs, they also block the drains so cockroaches can’t crawl out of the drains. Avoid leaving food out inside the home and avoid leaving dirty dishes in the sink.
