The top two scorpion species found roaming around Las Vegas homes are the Arizona bark scorpion and the stripetail scorpion. Both of these species are frequently found inside homes. However, it is the Bark or Arizona Bark scorpion that has the more harmful venom. When you have a major scorpion problem it is important to know which species is overwhelming your home.

Scorpion Infestation

The Arizona bark scorpion is a semi-social scorpion and has been found in large communities. When you see one Arizona Bark scorpion, you can assume others are nearby. The Arizona Bark scorpion can grow up to three inches in length and are light brown in color. The Arizona Bark scorpion also has a thin and curvy tail. The Stripetail scorpion is more robust than the Arizona Bark scorpion. They are also easily identified by the distinct stripe that goes down their tail. The stripetail scorpion can also grow around three inches in length.

Where Do Scorpions Live In & Outside Your House?

Both Arizona bark and stripetail scorpions will seek out food, water, and shelter. They like to hide under rocks and debris and particularly like damp places. When they invade inside the home, they will hide underneath furniture or any dark place they can find. One of the biggest draws for scorpions is the need for water. Scorpions can go a month without food but require water much more frequently. When scorpions invade it is often to find water. You will frequently find scorpions in the kitchen or bathroom near the sink or other leaky plumbing.

What Attracts Scorpions?
